NaCl
It baffles my mind the way people demonize salt. Salt is necessary for properly seasoning when you’re cooking. It’s the sodium in processed foods that is a danger to us. Take a look at the nutrition information on a box of frozen food. It’s absolutely insane! Companies have to use a certain amount of sodium in frozen foods for preservation purposes as well as seasoning. Processed cheeses, canned soups and pre-packaged rice or pasta boxes (like rice-a-roni or kraft mac & cheese) are other examples of high sodium foods. Don’t be afraid to read labels before you buy stuff. You should always be aware of what you’re putting in your body.
If you’re on a diet and you think you’re saving yourself by not sprinkling some salt on your chicken, steak, scallops, veggies, etc…you’re really just punishing your taste buds. Also don’t forget to season before you cook. Taste, taste, taste. Always taste while you cook.
