I am a fan of creamy things. Pudding, mousse, ice cream, yogurt, cream, soup, sorbet, etc…I love them all. So with the change of no dairy to my diet last year, I found myself trying an endless amount of new products.
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with this brand of cultured almond milk called “amande”. The first time I got raspberry and it was alright. Not too keen on the texture. It was a little more thinned out than I would have liked. However, the next few times I got the peach flavor and I loved it. I ate it with some blackberries and also used it in a smoothie. Really good. Nice creaminess.
I’ve also tried the soy based yogurts. More of a dairy yogurt texture. Good flavors. But, I don’t condone eating soy in large quantities, or even in small ones…on the rare occasion I eat tempeh or use a soy creamer for tea or coffee, I make sure it’s organic and GMO free. I think soy is especially harmful in women, throwing off the natural balance of hormones.
On a totally different note, I’m really excited to get some more chickens this spring! I’ve had a ton of requests from people in Queens and Manhattan for our eggs so we’re going to add another coop to our yard. Probably another 10 hens. One breed I’m getting strictly because they lay blue eggs…amazing! They’re called araucanas. The other breed I want are called golden laced wyandottes. The feathers on the birds are unbelievable. Black outlined with gold. Really beautiful!
