Raw Food Day 9.
This is such a simple and satisfying treat. I’ve been eating apples and some kind of nut butter almost every day for as long as I can remember. It’s definitely my go-to snack. I sandwiched raw almond butter and some carob chips between some apple slices and sprinkled them with a tiny bit of salt.
I love making sandwiches out of things that aren’t bread. Some of my favorites are tomato slices, eggplant, beets and even bananas work well as long as you slice them thin. I’ve been completely raw vegan for the past 9 days and I think I’ll continue until I hit 2 weeks. I’m not craving any dairy or meat at all. The only thing I’d love to have is an egg. Reason being that I have hens and roosters in my backyard as pets. I didn’t get chickens with the intentions of making money from selling their eggs. I got them because I love animals and I’d always rather grow my own food if possible. I give eggs to my neighbors and friends and I feel good knowing that the hens are my pets and not just animals on a conveyor belt producing for my monetary benefit. When they stop laying eggs, which should happen at about 3 years old, I’m not going to get rid of them. Pets are pets, no matter what.
